Cross-Chain Forwarder at Scale

Reduced critical transaction execution from 16 seconds to under 1 second while handling 2M+ transactions and $1B+ in volume.

Problem

The cross-chain forwarder was a critical revenue path handling high-value transactions across blockchains. Backend execution took 16 seconds on critical paths, creating poor user experience and limiting throughput as transaction volume grew past 2M transactions and $1B in total volume.

Approach

  • Profiled and optimized the critical transaction execution path, identifying bottlenecks in indexing, validation, and cross-chain coordination.
  • Built event-driven microservices with Kafka and Redis for blockchain indexing and state management.
  • Improved distributed validator release processes for 40+ active validators.
  • Designed for horizontal scaling under burst transaction load.

Outcome

  • Critical backend transaction execution reduced from 16 seconds to under 1 second.
  • Platform reliably handled 2M+ transactions and over $1B in total volume.
  • Validator release cycles improved for 40+ active validators.
  • Event-driven architecture enabled independent scaling of indexing and execution components.
